About Kiwanis Club
South Logan County Kiwanis Club a dedicated group of local volunteers proudly serving Booneville and Magazine in South Logan County as part of Kiwanis International. Kiwanis has been an active part of the community for many years, bringing together neighbors, business leaders, educators, retirees, and caring residents who are committed to making lasting improvements, with a special focus on the well-being and future of children. Through hands-on service, fundraising, and collaboration, we work to empower our tight-knit town by supporting youth programs, education, nutrition, safety, and community strength.

The South Logan County Kiwanis Club focuses on targeted, impactful service projects tailored to the needs of our local area, always with children at the center:
- Backpack Food Program: We organize and deliver weekend food bags to students in Booneville and Magazine schools, ensuring children who experience food insecurity have nutritious meals over weekends, holidays, and breaks. Our members regularly load and transport multiple truckloads of supplies directly to the schools, with recent deliveries including four truckloads to Booneville and two to Magazine—proudly involving volunteers like Hannah and others from our club.
- Shop With A Cop: In partnership with the Booneville Police Department, we coordinate events where officers take children shopping for clothing, essentials, and holiday items, strengthening bonds between law enforcement and youth while providing practical help and creating positive, memorable experiences.
- Youth Support and Scholarships: We provide scholarships, school supplies, clothing assistance through child welfare funds, and backing for local youth sports, leadership programs, and educational initiatives that help kids build confidence, skills, and opportunities.
- Fundraising and Community Events: We host engaging activities such as College Championship Squares and Super Bowl Squares fundraisers (where participants buy $10 squares with winners receiving $100 per quarter), annual 5K runs/walks (including memorial events), pie suppers, candidate forums with meals and silent auctions, and other gatherings that raise funds for our projects while bringing the community together in fellowship and fun.
- Broader Community Contributions: We collaborate with schools, police, churches, the South Logan County Chamber of Commerce, and other local groups on clean-ups, youth camps, health initiatives, and emergency support, amplifying our reach to benefit families throughout the area.
The benefits of our club's efforts touch every part of Booneville and South Logan County:
- Direct Impact on Children: Aligned with Kiwanis International's mission to "empower communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children," we prioritize projects that address real needs like hunger, education access, safety, and personal growth—helping kids overcome barriers and succeed.
- Volunteer-Powered and Inclusive: Our work is driven by member volunteers who donate time, energy, and resources; all funds from events go straight to service, with no extravagant overhead. We welcome anyone interested in giving back—new members from diverse backgrounds are always encouraged.
- Strong Local Partnerships: By teaming up with key community anchors, we ensure our efforts are efficient, visible, and truly helpful where they matter most in our rural setting.
- Fellowship and Engagement: We hold regular meetings (typically the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at noon, often at spots like Our Place Cafe on East Main Street) for planning, sharing ideas, and building friendships among dedicated locals.

As part of the Missouri-Arkansas District of Kiwanis International, the Kiwanis Club remains steadfast in our dedication to this community's future. From delivering food to hungry students and supporting police-youth connections to funding scholarships and hosting spirited fundraisers, we're deeply invested in children and families. We're grateful to be part of a the Booneville & Magazine communities where neighbors care so much about one another.
